Treatment for Facial Tumors
Treatment depends on whether the tumor is benign or malignant. Some symptoms, like pain or bleeding near the lump, might suggest it’s cancerous, but a biopsy is the only sure way to know.
In a biopsy, the surgeon takes a sample and sends it to a lab. If it’s benign, further treatment might not be needed unless it’s pressing on a nerve. Malignant tumors usually need surgery, plus chemo or radiation.
Surgical Methods for Removing Facial Tumors
Depending on the tumor’s size, location, and type, different surgical methods might be used. Curettage scrapes the tumor away with a sharp tool.
If it’s deep under the skin, surgical excision is needed. The surgeon cuts in, removes the tumor, and stitches up the wound.
