Tears welled up in Andrew’s eyes when he finally understood what his father had been trying to teach him. He now knew how much it hurt to be mistreated by those who thought they were superior. Andrew cried into his hands and looked up at the crowd when a woman’s silhouette caught his attention. He stood up and immediately ran after her when he recognized her.
“Hey there, wait a minute,” he shouted, tapping the woman’s arm. She turned around, stunned, as he panted, holding his knees, looking up at the flight attendant he’d mocked on the plane the previous day. “Hey!” he said. “You? Oh god, not you again! What are you doing here in a cleaner’s uniform? Do you work here?” Her hand flew to her mouth in shock. “I AM SORRY FOR MOCKING YOU YESTERDAY!” Andrew said. “I treated you so badly. I insulted you. But you still served me with a smile. I’m so ashamed of myself, and I promise I’ll never be rude to anyone again. Please forgive me, okay?”
The stewardess was taken aback by the boy’s words and his sudden change of heart. “I’m glad you’ve realized your mistake,” she said, smiling. “But I still don’t understand what you’re doing here.” Andrew refused to say anything and smiled, then disappeared from the flight attendant’s sight to finish the day’s remaining work.
