10 Ways Your Body May Be Telling You Something’s Wrong

10 Subtle Signs of Poor Health

You may notice small body changes, like in your skin or food cravings. Usually, it’s nothing, but sometimes it could mean a nutrient lack or an early sign of a serious problem.

  • A Crawling or Achy Feeling in Your Legs
If you feel a crawling sensation in your legs or an urge to move them, you might have restless leg syndrome (RLS), a sign of poor health. It often hits in the evening or at night when you’re sitting or lying down.
RLS, also known as Willis – Ekborn disease, has the main symptom of leg – moving urges. Most find relief by stretching, jiggling, pacing, or walking. Sensations include crawling, creeping, pulling, throbbing, aching, itching, or electric feelings.
Since it occurs at night, RLS can mess with your sleep and quality of life. Many with RLS don’t talk to their doctor, fearing they won’t be taken seriously. But doctors can help.
Doctors can prescribe meds like those increasing dopamine to the brain or affecting calcium channels. Some opioids, muscle relaxants, and sleep meds may help too.
Home remedies can also treat RLS. A warm bath, massage, hot or cold packs, and magnesium supplements may relieve symptoms. Fatigue worsens RLS, so a good sleep routine helps.
Moderate, regular exercise can relieve symptoms, but over – exercising or working out late can make it worse. Cutting back on caffeine may also help. There’s also a special foot wrap for RLS. Talk to your doctor about getting one.
  • Your Skin is Getting Thicker
Skin problems are often ignored, but your skin, the body’s largest organ, can tell a lot about your health. Thick, itchy skin could signal internal issues. Conditions like pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP), psoriasis, and hypothyroidism can cause skin thickening.
If you notice raised, thick, red, or itchy skin patches, talk to your doctor. They can do blood tests to find the root cause and make a treatment plan.
  • Your Handwriting, Your Sense of Smell, or Your Dreams Change
Strange as it sounds, these can be early Parkinson’s disease symptoms. Parkinson’s symptoms start gradually and worsen over time, including tremors, stiffness, slow movement, balance issues, and more.
Early signs are subtle, like slight tremors, trouble getting out of a chair, slow or cramped handwriting, or soft – spokenness. Many with Parkinson’s had sleep problems, constipation, poor smell, and restless legs before tremors or stiffness.
There’s no cure for Parkinson’s, but treatments can relieve symptoms. The earlier you get a diagnosis, the better. If you think you have it, talk to your doctor, as other diseases may have similar symptoms.
