Any president in the United States is going to go through ups and downs when it comes to their popularity. Sometimes, there may even be something that is noteworthy in a public poll that shows how people feel.
One poll that was recently taken was the YouGov poll, and after analyzing it, it was thought that it may point out some being disappointed in Donald Trump’s pregnancy, including some who voted for him.
Undoubtedly, as president of the United States, Donald Trump has been doing some things that have shaken up politics locally and around the world. When you consider everything that he has done since he took office on January 20, you know that he has been busy.
More than 100 executive orders were signed, a lot of talk about tariffs has taken place, a trade war was started with China and Canada, and he has also said repeatedly that he was going to annex both Canada and Greenland.
There have also been many controversies since he became president, including when the Ukrainian president was in the Oval Office. Volodymyr Zelenskyy was sitting with the president and vice president JD Vance, when a heated argument took place. It is also thought that he was asked to leave the White House.
All of these issues have led some to question their choice of voting for Donald Trump and some have even said that they may change their mind if they had to return to vote again tomorrow.
Harry Enten, CNN’s data analyst took a close look at the YouGov poll and saw that there were a number of MAGA supporters who were now regretting their choice.
He said: “I mean this is the big question, right? I hear all these stories, all these articles, all the Trump voters, saying they regret what they did back in 2024.
“I’m here to tell you, very few of them regret what they did back in 2024.
“We’re talking just two percent. That’s not even a wide spot on the road. And then there’s this additional one percent who say they would rather not vote.”
With such a small percentage of those being sorry that they voted the way they did, it means that if the election were to be taken again, it would produce an almost identical return. The reason? Under 5% of the MAGA supporters have switched their allegiance.
Along the same line, those who were loyal to former vice-president Kamala Harris of the Biden administration and the Democratic Party have not changed their minds either.
Enten continued: “The bottom line is for all this talk of Trump voters regretting their vote in the numbers, it really just doesn’t show up.
“If there’s some idea out there that Trump voters are going around [saying], ‘man, I wish I had voted for Kamala Harris instead of Donald Trump’, the numbers say that is a fanciful universe. It really for the most part does not exist.”
He looked at the numbers from Trump’s first time in office and said that the support he is receiving now is stronger than it was then.
He said: “In February 2017, four percent of Trump voters said they’d shift their vote—that’s actually slightly more than this time around.
“So you know, you look back, you say, OK, there’s these Trump voters who really regret their vote. Historically speaking, they really don’t regret their vote.
“And if anything, the number this time around is actually smaller than it was the first time around and it’s certainly smaller than the number we saw coming out of 2020, of course, after the events of January 6th.”
