Slow Aging with These Tips
- Sleep Right
When you snooze, gravity makes fluid pool under your lower lids. The skin there is soft and stretchy, leading to under-eye puffiness. To dodge the bags and look younger, slide an extra pillow under your head. This helps gravity drain the eye area. Cold spoons also do the trick. They fit the eyes well, and the metal stays cold for about 10 minutes to work.
- Act Youthful
“People recall impressions, not facts,” says Karen Friedman of Karen Friedman Enterprises. To seem strong, young, and lively, be more animated. It makes you look in charge, believable, and confident. Practice speaking in front of a friend or mirror. Keep these in mind:
Project your voice. A loud voice sounds younger than a whisper. Picture talking to someone at the back of the room.
Speak slower. Fast talkers seem nervous. Aim for around 130 words per minute.
Stand tall. “Your posture sets the tone for how people react,” says Renee Grant-Williams. A hunched stance makes you look old. In Voice Power, she suggests “the position of power”:
Stand on your toes’ balls. Tuck a bit for support. Keep shoulders down. Arch the neck back. Keep chin low and look up.
