David Wilburn Parton, who was Dolly’s brother, passed away at the age of eighty-two.
On Friday, November 15, Stella Parton, the singer’s sister, made a post on X (previously known as Twitter) to announce their brother’s death.
The 75-year-old said, “My brother David passed away peacefully this morning.” “He’s got his angel wings now and is at peace, but it’s never easy to say goodbye to someone you love.”

“It’s tough to lose a loved one,” Stella added in a second Facebook post, mentioning that her brother passed away “in the early hours of the morning.” She also wrote on Threads, “My brother David left us this morning. After a while, he was given angel wings. Rest in peace, wonderful soul. I’ll always love you.”
According to an online obituary, David, also known as David W. Parton, “died at his home” in White Pine, Tennessee, on Friday, November 15. The cause of his death wasn’t disclosed.
Dolly, who is 78, hasn’t made any public comments about her brother’s passing yet.
People have reached out to the representatives of Stella and Dolly for more information.
At the time of his death, David was a superintendent and bridge builder for Simpson Construction. The obituary said he worked in the Knoxville, Johnson City, and Kingsport areas of Tennessee.
The message also said, “The family is especially grateful to Dr. David McNabney, Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice, his Cornerstone caregiver, Aubrie Smith, and caregiver, Robin Schmidt.”
David was the second oldest among the 11 Parton siblings. The others include the deceased Randy, Larry, and Floyd; Willadeene, who is 84; Coy, 81; Dolly; Robert Jr., 76; Stella; Cassie, 73; Freida, 67; and Rachel, 65.
Unlike his famous sisters, David lived his whole life away from the public eye.

He leaves behind his siblings, his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, two daughters, Donna and Dena, Lucas, who is described as a “nephew/son” in the obituary, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at Leadvale Baptist Church in White Pine on Tuesday, November 19, and family and friends are welcome to attend.

David’s passing happened almost four years after his brother Randy died of cancer in 2021 at the age of 67 and six years after his brother Floyd passed away in December 2018 at the age of 61.
In a previous Facebook post about Randy’s passing, Dolly wrote, “My brother Randy has lost his battle with cancer.” “Even though we know he’s in a better place now, the family and I are still mourning his loss.
“We’re a religious family, and we believe in God’s protection and that our deceased family members have welcomed him with happiness and open arms.”
