When the DNA test results came, John’s heart raced. He opened the envelope with shaking hands. The results showed he wasn’t the father of his newborn son.
He was confused and angry. How could his wife Sarah betray him? They’d been together 7 years, and he thought their relationship was based on trust. That evening, while Sarah was feeding the baby, he confronted her.
“Sarah, we need to talk,” he said, his voice tight.
She looked up, surprised by his tone. “What is it?”
“I got a DNA test. The baby… he’s not mine,” John blurted out.
Sarah froze, her face turning pale. She stared at him, then said, “You did a DNA test without telling me?”
“Don’t turn this on me! You cheated. Admit it,” John snapped.
Tears filled her eyes, but she said, “John, I didn’t cheat. I promise. But I need to tell you something.”
John crossed his arms, looking skeptical. “Explain.”
She took a deep breath. “Remember when we couldn’t conceive and talked about options?”
John nodded, his anger lessening a bit.
