Prince Louis is coming of age in this new phase of the Royal Family. His mom and dad, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are working on making the monarchy more contemporary, and that includes how they’re bringing up their kids. Right now, the young prince is fourth in line for the throne, after his father and two older siblings. Chances are he won’t ever become king.
Still, Louis has a significant part to play in the Royal Family, just like a lot of the brothers and sisters of past kings and queens. But is it really right for him to always be overshadowed by his older brother, Prince George? Maybe it’s time for the Royal Family to be brave and take away the royal titles from the younger kids. Let them figure out their own lives.
Prince Harry is always going to be remembered as the “spare.” He was always second to his older brother, and according to Harry himself, it didn’t feel like a very important role. Growing up in William’s shadow – when William was being groomed to be king one day – must have been tough. In the end, Harry chose to leave.
Why Prince Louis should have his royal titles taken away
The prince who’s kind of distanced himself from the family has said he’s worried that both Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will end up like him in the future. That they won’t get the same treatment as Prince George, who’ll be king someday.
From what we can tell, William and Kate Middleton want to update the monarchy and raise their children as much like regular kids as they can. But if they’re aiming for “normal,” isn’t it about time Charlotte and Louis got to pick their own futures?
If you ask me, Charlotte and Louis would really gain a lot from losing their royal titles, even if it seems like a wild idea. Basically: it’s time for the monarchy to let the youngest members make their own choices.
To start with, some people think the royal titles are an old-fashioned tradition. With the Royal Family getting a lot of flak in recent years, getting rid of the titles would help them relate better to the public. Wouldn’t it also make them more liked?
“A person of real significance”
If Prince Louis lost his titles, as he got older he could turn into someone really important. He could help bring the monarchy and regular people closer together – and that’s crucial for the long life of the Royal Family.
Prince Harry went off on his own unique path, far from royal life. Some royal experts have been talking about how Prince Louis might be pushed to look for a career outside Buckingham Palace too. If that’s how it turns out, and if Louis wants a “normal” life, having a royal title would be a bit odd.
Prince William and Kate Middleton definitely want what’s best for their children. With that in mind, I think they could act now and take away Louis and Charlotte’s royal titles. Of course, they probably won’t, and that just goes to show the monarchy still has a long way to go to be truly modern.
