While helping her distant mother pack, Lucy found a mysterious “Do not show Lucy” note at the bottom of a list. In a safe, there was a dusty videotape full of her parents’ secrets. Why were they hiding it from her?
The trip started reluctantly. Lucy sat in the car, arms crossed, glaring out. Her father, Todd, tried to break the silence, but the tension was thick.
“Lucy, she needs your help,” Todd said firmly.
“She needs yours, Dad. I don’t know why you brought me,” Lucy retorted, frustrated.
“She’s your mom. She loves you,” Todd replied.
“Doesn’t seem like it,” Lucy mumbled, crossing her arms tighter. “Let’s just finish this.”
At the house, Lucy’s resentment grew. She followed Todd in, angry. Todd gave her a packing list and told her about a safe upstairs with the code at the bottom.
As Lucy packed, she found the note. Her heart raced. What were they hiding? In the safe, behind a jewelry box, was a dusty package with an old videotape. She pocketed it.
Back at her apartment, Lucy was too curious to resist. She found her old VCR, hooked it up, and played the tape. The screen showed her young, happy parents and a little girl in the yard. But it wasn’t Lucy.
