They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but when it comes to Catherine, Princess of Wales, and former First Daughter Ivanka Trump, we can’t help but wonder who has the edge in style. These two women, though on opposite sides of the Atlantic, seem to favor the same designers, often showing up at different events in similar or identical outfits. This isn’t too shocking as, per the Daily Mail, both are loyal to their favorite brands. What’s interesting is that both influential figures have had style makeovers that bring them more in sync.
In the past, the princess was criticized for being too conservative in fashion. This changed when Natasha Archer, her former personal assistant, became her personal stylist. A source close to the princess told Vanity Fair that Archer “persuaded Kate to be more daring. Hemlines got shorter, and Kate really stepped up her fashion game.”
As for Trump, the ex – model who once launched her own clothing brand knows fashion well. Still, even a fashion icon sometimes needs help. After moving to Washington D.C., Trump enlisted celeb stylist Cat Williams to create the sleek, sophisticated look she’s known for.
Chic and Simple
Ivanka Trump and Princess Catherine both looked elegant and stunning in an Emilia Wickstead white, sleeveless A – line dress with black piping. The princess loves Wickstead’s elegant styles and colorful palettes. Harper’s Bazaar says Catherine owns several of Wickstead’s designs, inspiring the London – based designer to name a style “The Kate” as the princess has it in three colors.
Catherine wore the black – and – white Wickstead dress to support Prince William at a charity polo match. Keeping with the day’s casual vibe, she paired it with Finlay & Co’s chic tortoiseshell sunglasses, matching brown hoop earrings, and Camilla Elphick flats. Trump, wearing the dress to a speaking event, added her own touch with a white belt, a black bag, and black heels. Both looks show how versatile this $2,300 – plus dress is, easily transitioning from sporty to formal.
