The air conditioner is on but not cooling?

Is your air conditioner running but not cooling your house? This can be a big headache, especially in hot summers. But don’t worry, try this method right away to get it cooling without calling a technician.

Reasons

  • Wrong Cooling Mode
One common reason for an AC running but not cooling is the wrong cooling mode. This mode controls your home’s temperature. If it’s off, the AC will work poorly.
  • Airflow Issues
Another reason is airflow problems. Blockages or restrictions in air ducts can stop cool air from getting into your home.
  • Dirty Air Filters
Dirty air filters can cause lots of AC problems, like less airflow, higher energy use, and lower cooling efficiency. If your AC runs but doesn’t cool, dirty filters could be to blame.
  • Refrigerant Leaks
Refrigerant is what the AC uses to cool air. If there’s not enough, the AC won’t work right.

Solution
If you’re sure the cooling mode is set correctly, skip this step.
On the AC remote, there are different symbols:

  • Cool: Snowflake symbol
  • Dry: Water drop symbol
  • Heating mode: Sun symbol
  • Automatic mode
To cool effectively, choose the “Cool” mode, not the “Fan” mode.
If it’s over 35°C, use the “Dry” mode too to enhance cooling.
