MY MARRIAGE TURNED INTO ONE BIG LETDOWN

My marriage became a huge disappointment. Over the years, my husband turned into a complete stranger. Intimacy? It was long gone. We didn’t even have anything to talk about.

What had happened to the romantic man I’d fallen in love with? At work, every man would turn his head when I walked by. But my own husband? He didn’t seem to notice me at all. I really tried. I asked him out, but all I got were excuses. Eventually, I just snapped.

I slammed the door, and we had a huge fight. I thought it was the end. He was furious and crashed on the couch. The next day, I went straight to work as soon as I could.

I walked into the office and froze. Right there on my desk was a massive bouquet of flowers! Inside was a note. The moment I read it, my smile disappeared. It said:

“You deserve better. – Someone who sees you.”

My heart started pounding. I looked around the office, scanning for anyone acting suspicious. Who could have sent this? My mind raced with possibilities. Could it be one of my coworkers? I’d noticed a few of them being extra friendly lately. Or was it someone else entirely?

I was distracted all day. The note was constantly on my mind. When I got home that evening, my husband was still on the couch, scrolling through his phone as if nothing had happened.

I wanted to tell him about the flowers, to shake him and ask why he wasn’t fighting for me, why he was letting our marriage fall apart without a second thought. But I didn’t. Instead, I just watched him for a moment, waiting for him to look up and notice me. He never did.

The next morning, I found another note. This time, it was on my car windshield. It read:

“You don’t have to stay where you’re not cherished.”

My hands trembled as I crumpled the paper. This was serious. Someone was watching me, and more importantly, they knew about my failing marriage. Was this meant to be encouraging? A warning? Or something more sinister?
