A body believed to be that of a missing man from Hull has been discovered, Humberside Police has confirmed.
Jamie, aged 28, was reported missing last week having not been seen since Tuesday, June 17. Friends and family had organised a volunteer-led search party through Facebook for Jamie today, but it has now been cancelled, reports Hull Live.
In a statement this morning, Humberside Police said: “Last night, Monday, June 23, whilst conducting searches for missing 28-year-old Jamie, a man’s body was discovered not far from Poorhouse Lane, Hull.
“The body was recovered and while formal identification is yet to take place, we can confirm we do believe it to be that of missing Jamie from Hull who was last seen on Tuesday, June 17. Specialist trained officers have updated Jamie’s family and are providing support.
“Our thoughts are with them and Jamie’s loved ones and friends at this incredibly sad time. A post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days. However at this time, there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. Due to previous police contact, a mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).”
