Russia releases statement after Trump reads out Zelensky’s letter

Amid the news of the US – Ukraine relationship, Russia has made a statement. When Ukraine’s President Zelensky visited the US, a tense scene occurred in Trump’s Oval Office.

A Kremlin rep commented on Zelensky’s willingness to negotiate after Trump read his letter in Congress. Last week, Trump and Vance met Zelensky to discuss Ukraine’s war with Russia. Trump and Vance were disappointed with Zelensky’s lack of gratitude and reluctance to negotiate a cease – fire. Trump said he’d pause military aid to Ukraine, which the Kremlin’s Peskov called the ‘best contribution to peace.’

Zelensky wrote a letter to Trump, who read it in Congress. Zelensky said Ukraine is ready to negotiate and work under Trump’s leadership for lasting peace. The letter also mentioned Ukraine’s readiness to sign a rare – earth minerals deal with the US.

Moscow appreciates Ukraine’s willingness to negotiate, but Peskov is confused due to the 2022 decree banning Ukraine from negotiating with Putin. The legal ban on Ukrainian – Russian talks is still in force.

The Russia – Ukraine conflict continues. On March 4, 2025, Russia launched a drone attack on Odesa, killing a 77 – year – old woman and injuring three others. Ukraine shot down 115 of the 181 drones Russia fired. The situation is evolving.
