The heiress of the late “King of Pop” opened up about her battles with addiction and depression. Details of a turbulent lifeIn a shocking and candid interview with Rolling Stone magazine , Paris Jackson—the only daughter of the late “King of Pop” Michael Jackson—revealed that she attempted suicide on several occasions due to severe depression and also revealed that she was raped by a stranger at age 14.
Although Paris—now 18—made headlines for a suicide attempt in 2013, the superstar’s daughter revealed it wasn’t just a one-time occurrence.
“I tried to commit suicide several times ,” the young woman told the aforementioned publication. In June of that year, drowning in depression and drug addiction, she attempted to kill herself by slitting her wrists.
Suicidal thoughts began after her father’s death in 2009. “They always say time heals, but it really doesn’t. You just end up getting used to it,” she explained to the publication. “I lost the one thing that mattered most to me. (…) So, from now on, nothing bad can happen. (…) I feel it with me all the time .”
Paris also inflicted pain on himself through self-harm. He covered many of the scars he has on his body today with some of his 50 tattoos.
Far from those difficult times, Paris reflects: “I hated myself. I thought I couldn’t do anything right, that I wasn’t worthy of living anymore. I was doing a lot of things a girl shouldn’t do. I tried to grow up too fast, and I wasn’t that kind of person . ”
The new face of Chanel—who struggled with addiction and depression for a long time—was also sexually abused at age 14. Although she declined to elaborate on the incident, she said she was attacked by a stranger. “It wasn’t a good experience at all, and it was very difficult for me. I didn’t tell anyone at the time.”
The pop icon had Paris and his older brother, Prince, with Debbie Rowe, a patient he was married to for several years. Years later, Jackson fathered his third child, Blanket, with a surrogate mother.
Michael Jackson protected his children so much from media harassment that they even wore masks in public. At a tribute following the singer’s death, Paris, then 11, surprised the audience by taking the stage and saying that Michael was “the best father you could imagine.”
In the Rolling Stone interview , the model and aspiring actress
said she was “absolutely” convinced the “Thriller” singer was murdered, and pointed to doctor Conrad Munrray as one of the main people responsible for the musician’s early death.
“He was dropping hints about people trying to hunt him down. And at one point he said, ‘They’ll kill me one day,’” she said. “It sounds like a complete conspiracy theory and it sounds like a lie, but the real fans and the family know it. They set him up. It was all a lie.”
As if that weren’t enough, Paris promises that one day she will avenge the death of the man she loved most: ” It’s like a game of chess. I’m trying to play it right. And that’s all I can say right now . “
