Newly sworn – in Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Wednesday that the Trump administration is suing New York State, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Attorney General Letitia James. The lawsuit claims these state officials broke federal law by protecting illegal immigrants. At a press conference, Bondi said, “This is a new DOJ. New York put illegal aliens ahead of American citizens. That ends today.”
The lawsuit also targets Mark Schroeder, the New York DMV commissioner. It focuses on New York’s “Green Light” laws, which let illegal immigrants get driver’s licenses. Bondi said these laws give illegal aliens a “green light” to stay in the state without proper federal law enforcement checks, as officers can’t access license databases during routine stops.
