My grandpa taught me this trick to fix moldy or peeling walls in a few minutes without hiring a technician

Fixing Common Wall Problems at Home

Over time, your home walls might get moldy, blistered, or start peeling, especially in the rainy season. Instead of calling professionals, you can solve these issues yourself with the following methods. It saves money and keeps your walls looking nice.

1. Mold Treatment

  • Step 1: First, get rid of visible mold. Gently scrub mold spots with a dry toothbrush. Then, use a cloth soaked in alcohol to wipe the wall, drying it to stop more mold growth.
  • Step 2: Mix bleach and water in a 1:99 ratio. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray it on moldy areas. In humid weather, use a 1:20 ratio for better results.
After the wall dries, use sandpaper to smooth it. Apply a waterproof primer before repainting to prevent future mold from moisture.

2. Blistering Walls
Blistered walls are common, often due to poor wall prep or moisture. Here’s how to fix them:

  • Step 1: Remove blistered or peeling paint. If the problem is bad wall filler, scrape it off and replace with a good one.
  • Step 2: For small blisters, scrape the area, smooth the edges, then apply primer and repaint. For larger blisters, remove the whole affected part, let the wall dry, and reapply plaster.
  • Step 3: When decorating, make sure there’s proper waterproofing and fix cracks to prevent blistering.
  • Step 4: Don’t paint in the rainy season. Use primer and paint from the same brand for the best results.

3. Peeling Walls
Peeling walls look bad and can cause dust and sanitation problems. Here’s how to deal with it:

  • Step 1: Scrape off peeling areas and old filler. Smooth edges with sandpaper, then apply primer before repainting.
  • Step 2: For severe peeling, remove the damaged wall layer completely and prime the surface before repainting.
  • Step 3: For badly peeling areas, spray water to dampen them and use a scraper to remove peeling paint. If no dust comes off when scraping, the original filler is good. Sand the area, then apply primer and paint as needed.

By following these steps, you can keep your home walls in great shape without professional help.
