Nick Ferrari stunned This Morning viewers with a live on-air announcement that he had secretly tied the knot with partner Clare Goodwin – before heading straight back to work just days later.
The 65-year-old LBC broadcaster, who got engaged to Clare earlier this year after a decade together, exchanged vows in a private ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall on Saturday afternoon. The guest list was kept intimate, limited to close family, with celebrations continuing at Nick’s South East London home where the couple enjoyed food in the garden under perfect summer skies.
Nick and Clare first met at Global Radio, where Clare works as Head of Branded Content for Heart, Smooth, LBC and Gold. True to his playful nature, Nick once teased Clare about when he would propose – even staging a faux proposal in a homeware store by offering her a screwdriver instead of a ring. The following morning, the couple purchased the real thing.
On This Morning, Nick made light of his previous marriage to Sandra Phylis Conolly, with whom he shares two sons, joking: “This is the one that’s going to work – that’s why I put £10 on at the bookies!”
The show also aired a wedding photo chosen by Clare, in which Nick looked “startled” because he was being heckled. Noticing that Nick was wearing a shirt almost identical to his on-air outfit, host Andi Peters joked about his wardrobe. Nick laughed that it was indeed the same suit, adding he hadn’t been home yet.
