Sobbing Teacher Tears Up and Resigns Over Critical Race Theory in School Board Showdown

Laura Morris, a former fifth-grade teacher at Lucketts Elementary School in Leesburg, Virginia, resigned from her position after refusing to teach Critical Race Theory (CRT).

During a Loudoun County School Board meeting, an emotional Morris voiced her opposition to what she described as the school district’s “highly-politicized agendas.” She criticized the equity training and curriculum changes tied to CRT, which examines the role of racism in societal systems.

“I quit being a cog in a machine that pushes highly-politicized agendas on our most vulnerable citizens – the children,” Morris explained, stating that her personal beliefs conflicted with the district’s approach.

Morris also raised concerns about how her personal life was being affected by the district’s political stance. She shared that she received emails warning against expressing dissenting opinions, even in her private life.

Frustrated by what she saw as a lack of respect for concerned citizens and the district’s bias against certain groups, Morris made the difficult decision to resign.

In her passionate speech, she urged parents and staff to explore alternative educational options, encouraging them to consider different paths for their children’s learning.
