On TikTok, Kristin Pitzen joked about removing American flags from her classroom walls as they made her “uncomfortable.”

“Because it made me uncomfortable,” Orange County teacher Kristin Pitzen said in a since-deleted TikTok video, justifying taking down the American flag.
She told the camera, “I put it away, can’t remember where, and haven’t found it yet.” Her laughter muffled her speech.
During the morning Pledge of Allegiance, she said she tells students, “Stand if you want, don’t if you don’t; say the words if you like, or not.” The Pledge is a symbol of national patriotism.
