Since Kate Middleton shared her cancer diagnosis with the public, the Palace has been flooded with letters from people sending their good wishes. Usually, the palace gets around 1,000 letters a week from the public. But after Kate talked about her cancer and the preventive chemotherapy she’s having, that number has gone way up.
All this mail has been really tough for the team to handle. But they’re trying their hardest to get back to everyone who wrote in. The Prince and Princess of Wales have a private office at Kensington Palace. But all the letters sent to the Royal Family are taken care of by the Court Post Office.
Just like you’d think, people in Britain and all over the world are watching every single thing the Palace does when it comes to Kate. They’re really looking forward to seeing her come back to public life and her royal duties.
Back in the middle of January, Kate had a planned abdominal surgery. She had to stay in the hospital for two weeks. Even then, the public and the media started making up rumors about her health. Her hospital stay seemed a lot longer than normal. After the surgery, no one saw the princess. People were asking where she was. The only thing the Palace said officially at that time was that she “was doing fine.”
Then in March, Kate talked about her health in a video that was recorded earlier. She said that after the surgery, when the doctors did some tests, they found cancer. She and William asked for privacy.
People who know her well talked to the media and said that her schedule has been clear. But the fact that she’s been showing up lately is a good sign.
She’s not in a rush to start doing her royal work again.
“There’s no set schedule, and there’s no need to hurry,” a source said. “It’ll be when Catherine feels ready and when her doctors say it’s okay. But there’s no doubt that she’ll be back to work.”
To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a video about the work Kate’s been doing on her own.
Even though she’s trying to stay out of the spotlight, the Princess of Wales is “excited” to be a big part of starting a new project. This project could help the UK economy grow by £45.5 billion ($57 billion) every year. According to The Daily Mirror, Kate’s Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood is going to put out a report this week. It’s from eight British companies. The report will point out five ways that businesses can help kids under five and their caregivers. It’ll also show how important it is to invest in early childhood.
Kate’s been the main person behind this charity. People think it started before she was diagnosed with cancer.
Even though there haven’t been any pictures on social media, it’s been said that Kate’s been seen out with her family in the last few days. But the public shouldn’t get too excited about that. Kate still needs “space and time.”
“No one wants to put any pressure on Catherine,” an insider told MailOnline last week. “The only thing that matters right now is that she gets better. She’s had a really tough time this year.”
