Those mean comments hit her self-esteem hard, and she struggled with imposter syndrome. But even when down, Lopez didn’t quit. “I just kept pushing,” she said. “I couldn’t let that negative talk become my truth.”
Dead set on writing her own story, Lopez worked like a dog and started trusting in her skills. “I’m a great actress, singer, and dancer,” she said. “And I’m gonna keep at it! That’s all I did. I just worked harder than anyone.”
For Lopez, the shift came when she believed in herself and ditched the imposter label. “I started having faith in me. I knew I wasn’t a fake.”
This journey of self-empowerment shows up in her films too. She compared her path to Maya’s, a character from Second Act. “It’s like the movie,” she said. “Maya thinks she made mistakes when young and didn’t deserve better. I felt that way too.”
