‘My life is amazing:’ A 76-year-old man who was paralyzed by polio at the age of six is one of the last people with an iron lung.

After 18 months, Paul worked with therapist Mrs. Sullivan, learning the “frog-breathe” technique. Soon, he could be out of the iron lung more.

Paul not only went to school but graduated from Southern Methodist University and law school at UT Austin. He passed the bar and became a lawyer in Dallas-Fort Worth. “And I was good at it!” he said.

“They said I was too disabled and unvaccinated,” Paul remembered. “After two years bugging them, they let me in if I got the vaccine and a fraternity watched me.”
