Cardiologist reveals his number one tips to avoid a heart attack before you’re 60

As the new year arrives, many of us think about our health and when we last exercised. If heart – health is high on your New Year’s resolution list, a cardiologist has shared tips on preventing heart attacks before age 60.

There’s so much health info that it can be hard to know where to start. But following an expert’s advice is smart.

Experts warn that while heart attacks are common in those 65 and older, there’s a worrying increase among younger people. Dr. Evan S. Levine, a cardiologist, shared his top tips on TikTok. Here are some of them:

Quit Smoking
Smoking causes many health problems, like cancer and breathing issues. Worse, smokers are nearly twice as likely to have a heart attack as non – smokers. Smoking damages blood vessels, raises blood pressure, and lowers blood oxygen. Also, Dr. Levine warns against cocaine use as it can raise heart rate and blood pressure.

Cut Back on Sugary Drinks
Fizzy drinks might be a treat, but if you care about your heart, think again. Harvard research shows sugary drinks can up your heart – disease risk, no matter how much you exercise. They can lead to high blood pressure, inflammation, and high cholesterol.
