Family disputes over a loved one’s possessions occur frequently. Sometimes, these arguments become so intense that the would – be recipients can’t reach an agreement.
A woman shared a story about her mother and the inheritance she left behind after her passing.
The woman started her tale by stating that she was the one who took care of her ailing mother. She wrote, “Mom was always my closest friend, so naturally, I was committed to being by her side throughout this entire ordeal.”
However, because she was constantly there for her mother, her greedy brother and aunts only showed up when they needed something, usually money to pay their bills.
The woman wrote, “While my mom’s health was gradually deteriorating, one aunt asked my mom – who ran a real – estate business – to use her ‘contacts’ to help her find a new home. They were so brazen.”
Sadly, her mother passed away. The woman then recalled the moment when her mother’s will was about to be read.
In a room that resembled a scene from a Hallmark movie, her brother, her aunts, and her late mother’s lawyer were all seated.
The woman wrote, “As the lawyer delivered the shock, I sipped on weak tea from one of the chipped teacups. Mom had saved a substantial amount of money – around $5 million – and she intended to give it all to my brother and aunts. I forced myself to swallow the tea as I tried to make sense of what was happening. I received nothing. Zip. Nada.”
As the lawyer broke the news, tears welled up in her eyes, and her mascara smeared onto her skirt. Her brother and aunts couldn’t conceal the smiles on their faces.
