Whoa, I gotta try this next time!

We’ve all had a scratchy, painful sore throat that makes swallowing a chore. But there’s a 2 – minute remedy my nana taught me: a mix of honey and lemon.

Honey and lemon have long been used to soothe sore throats. The key is to make a mixture that coats your throat well.

You need 1 tablespoon of honey (raw and organic is best) and 1/2 fresh lemon or 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.

  1. Squeeze half a lemon into a bowl or on a spoon. Use bottled lemon juice if fresh ones aren’t available.
  2. Mix the lemon juice with a tablespoon of honey until well – combined and thick.
  3. Slowly swallow the mixture, letting it coat your throat.

This works because honey has antibacterial properties, can soothe irritated membranes, and retains moisture. Lemon is full of vitamin C, has antibacterial effects, and can reduce swelling and break down mucus. Together, they soothe and heal your throat.

You can enhance the remedy: use less – processed honey, warm the mixture (not hot), and drink plenty of fluids. You can repeat it up to 3 times a day.

Unlike OTC meds with side effects, this natural remedy has no side effects, uses common kitchen ingredients, and addresses the root cause of throat irritation.

Next time you have a sore throat, try this 2 – ingredient, 2 – minute remedy. It’s stood the test of time.
