In these tales, parents experience heart – wrenching betrayal from their own children. In one instance, a mother finds herself in a difficult situation when her daughter, refusing to abide by her rules, moves in with her father. Later, the daughter wishes to come back home, but only on her own, rather unreasonable terms.
In another story, a woman opens up about the hardships she faced after divorcing her husband. Financially stable though she was, she had to manage her finances carefully. In contrast, her ex – husband spared no expense in providing for their daughter, Maria. When Maria was denied a $1,000 laptop, she began comparing her parents. After a series of disagreements regarding jobs and school, she dropped out and moved in with her father.
Fast – forward a few years. Maria, now 21, is kicked out by her father and desires to move back in with her mother. The mother is willing to take her in but sets some reasonable conditions: Maria must obtain her GED, find a job, and contribute to household chores. Maria, however, rejects these terms, even going so far as to call her mother crazy. The mother remains steadfast, convinced that these conditions are in Maria’s best interest, even though her daughter storms off.
In yet another case, a woman’s daughter has a troubled relationship with her father. After the father remarries, he distances himself from his daughter. Despite undergoing therapy, the daughter still grapples with the pain of this abandonment. Her bond with her mother, on the other hand, remains unshaken. The mother is overjoyed at the thought of her daughter’s graduation, but the future is clouded with uncertainty due to the persistent tension caused by the father.
