Many people may have heard a lot about stroke. Stroke doesn’t only affect the elderly; it also impacts many young people.
Stroke is extremely dangerous. If not detected and treated promptly, it can severely impact our lives. I read in the newspaper that some morning habits can easily trigger a stroke. Here are those habits we should avoid.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Quang from the Military Medical Academy warned everyone to stop these bad morning habits to prevent stroke.
- Jumping up right in the morning
Many people have this habit, but health experts say it’s the most likely to cause a stroke in the morning. Dr. Quang warns to stop this habit immediately. When we sleep, the parasympathetic nervous system is active, with a slower – beating heart, gentler contractions, and lower blood pressure than when awake. If we wake up suddenly, the sympathetic nervous system activates strongly. The heart beats faster and stronger, raising blood pressure. This makes the small blood vessels in the brain more likely to rupture, leading to a hemorrhagic stroke. Dr. Quang suggests lying in bed for 1 – 2 minutes after waking up, then massaging the face, head, eyes, and neck with hands before getting up. - Drinking diluted salt water right after waking up
Many people do this, believing it has antiseptic effects, kills mouth bacteria, and strengthens teeth and gums. However, we’re not advised to drink salt water in the morning. Eating too much salt can cause high blood pressure, stroke, and kidney damage. Also, when we wake up with an empty stomach, drinking salt water can affect the esophagus and stomach lining, causing inflammation and ulcers over time. - Exercising too early
Exercise is good for health, but don’t exercise at dawn before the sun rises. At this time, the temperature is low. Exercising early can lead to colds. Cold weather can cause vasoconstriction, and more dangerously, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and stroke. For those in poor health, early – morning exercise can also cause serious sleep deprivation, making the body function less effectively and increasing the risk of injury. - Drinking a lot of water right after waking up
Drinking water in the morning is good, but don’t drink too much at once, especially in winter. Drinking too much water in a short time increases the heart’s load. For people with existing cardiovascular problems, it may cause symptoms like shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, or even stroke. It’s best to drink only about 200 – 300ml of water, and drink small sips regularly instead of waiting until thirsty.
I read this interesting information in the newspaper and want to share it so everyone can be aware. Since stroke is very dangerous and affects our lives, we should be careful with our daily habits, especially those in the morning.
