At least 15 people tragically lost their lives in a dreadful accident on Thursday in Manitoba, Canada. A bus transporting senior citizens crashed into a truck at a crossroads close to Carberry, which is 170 kilometers to the west of Winnipeg. The bus passengers were on their way to a casino in Carberry.
Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, who is in charge of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, verified that “at least 15 people were declared dead due to the collision.”
Another ten people are currently being treated in the hospital.
Both of the drivers survived the accident. However, the police have not yet revealed which party was at fault for the incident.
Pictures from the accident site displayed wheelchair seats and walking frames that were wrecked near the tarpaulins covering the deceased.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences, saying that his thoughts are with the injured and the families of those who have suffered the loss of their loved ones. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also conveyed her sympathies.
