Beloved Actor Adam Turck Fatally Shot at 35 While Walking His Dog – Details

An incident that had frightened neighbours and sparked 911 calls was being defused by the theatre performer. His loved ones and friends have good memories of him.

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, Adam Turck passed away too soon, leaving the Richmond community in sadness. He was thirty-five. When the actor attempted to assist a stranger in a home conflict that morning, he was shot and killed.

A police report states that at approximately 10:17 a.m., officers were called to a domestic complaint in the 2000 block of East Grace Street. Two individuals were located on the ground, both unconscious and with gunshot wounds, when an officer arrived on the scene.

A Richmond police official told CBS 6 that “they were transported to a local hospital with injuries that remain life-threatening.” Since then, Turck’s family has been informed that he is not anticipated to recover from his wounds.

Investigators concluded that an adult woman and a 19-year-old man, who have not been named, had a confrontation. When the fight broke out in front of an apartment complex, the nearby neighbours called the police to report a “domestic violence situation.”

Turck tried to break up the argument as he was walking by with his dog. After pulling a revolver from his rucksack, the 19-year-old shot Turck before turning the weapon against himself. An eyewitness told CBS 6 that they witnessed the horrific event.

“A random bystander [Turck] walking his dog tried to intervene and help her; that’s when it started escalating between them,” according to the witness. “The guy shot the bystander…and then shot himself.”

The incident was described by Richmond Police Chief Rick Edwards as a “tragic story of gun violence” against a man who was merely attempting to assist. “This is a heartbreaking reminder that we must, as a community, continue to combat gun violence in our society,” he said.

Turck’s family issued a statement shortly after his passing. “After giving his organs to help save the lives of others, Adam will be 35 years old when he dies away in the coming days. The message, which was made public on Monday, August 4, said, “Heroes do that—they save the lives of others.”

Adam sacrificed his life to save the life of someone in need, and we will never forget that. We were informed that if Adam hadn’t been present, the person he helped might not be with us today, even though we are unable to discuss specifics about what happened this past Saturday because of the circumstances,” the statement went on.

The family also disclosed that additional testing was required at the time to determine the recipients of Turck’s organs’ viability. “We hope that those lives he saves will know that they will hold the soul of a hero within them,” the family stated.

Turck, a Pennsylvania native and devoted thespian, had spent ten years living and working in Richmond. The Richmond Theatre Community Circle Awards nominated him multiple times, and in 2018 he took home the Best Actor in a Play prize for his performance in “Hand to God.”

His most recent role was in the production of “Smoke” by Cadence Theatre. He was also getting ready to perform in Richmond Triangle Players’ production of “Dracula: A Comedy of Horrors” in the title role.

In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, The Virginia Repertory Theatre said, “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Adam Turck, a gifted actor, passionate activist, and beloved member of our community.”

Turck was a trainer at Tequila and Deadlifts gym in addition to being an actor. Turck could be found at Tequila and Deadlifts every day, frequently with his cherished dog, Lana, according to Kerith Rae, the gym’s owner, who also posted a tribute on the official Facebook page.

“I cannot explain the size of the hole that has been left, not just in our gym community or our theatre communities, but in the fabric of this world to lose somebody like Adam,” Rae told the local media outlet 12 On Your Side.

“People write books about him because they aspire to be like him, and he was just that good. “And without him, this world is a duller, darker place,” she added. Rae revealed that since Turck’s family could only think of the name of the gym, they asked her for assistance in identifying him.

“They remembered the gym name, and I remember so many people would tell me how stupid the name was, and Adam said he loved it and I’m so glad he did and I’m so glad it’s so stupid because at least his family remembered it because they were able to get in touch with me” Rae stated.

Turck was recalled by his family and friends as having “a moral compass made of steel.” “You can become a buddy with him if you meet him. “He is among the most vivacious and compassionate individuals I have ever encountered,” Turck’s friend CJ Bergin told CBS 6.

He went on to say, “Superman is ultimately a firefighter. Superman is someone who steps in to assist others. Later, someone will take over to ensure everyone is alright, but for now, he worries about everything else. Adam was that person.

Along with Turck’s family and his “platonic partner and friend soulmate,” Chelsea Burke, a woman called Ruth Hedberg has started a GoFundMe account. According to Hedberg, “Adam has been Chelsea’s care and well-being,”

The money will be used to help Chelsea move and “re-establish a new home” in Richmond, she clarified. After that, any money left over would be “dedicated to a purpose” that Turck would follow or given to a cause he believed in.
