The child was in a very serious condition and was taken to hospital, but did not survive the injuries caused by the animal.
A 7-year-old boy, identified as Henzo Gabriel dos Santos Pereira, died after being attacked by a pitbull in Boa Vista on Sunday night (8). Injured, he was taken to the Francisco Elesbão state emergency room, where he received first aid, then was transferred to the Santo Antônio Children’s Hospital, but did not survive.
The boy arrived at the emergency room in a very serious condition, reported the State Health Department (Sesau).
“The team of professionals at the unit did their utmost to stabilize the patient, from the moment she arrived in a critical condition until she was stabilized with intubation. All available resources were used to save the child’s life,” Sesau highlighted.
After being stabilized, the boy was placed in an ambulance and taken to the children’s hospital in a task force that involved military police providing security and ensuring traffic along the route.
In a statement, the Municipal Health Department, responsible for the children’s hospital, said that the boy “arrived in cardiorespiratory arrest, attempts were made to revive him, but he died.”
It was not officially disclosed how the dog attacked the child.
The Municipal Department of Education issued a statement of condolence for Henzo’s death. “The City Hall deeply regrets this loss and wishes God to comfort all his family and friends in this moment of deep pain.” He studied at the Tia Linda Municipal School.
