In Manitoba, Canada, a tragic crash between a bus with elderly passengers and a truck has claimed at least 15 lives. It happened near Carberry, west of Winnipeg, on the Trans-Canada Highway. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said 10 people, including both drivers, were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Eyewitness John Proven called it a “huge accident,” with a vehicle on fire and a semi-truck nearby, its front badly damaged. The bus was taking seniors from Dauphin to the Sand Hills Casino in Carberry when the disaster struck. Emergency services, including an air ambulance and 12 regular ambulances, were quickly sent.
Authorities are still figuring out why the bus swerved into the truck’s lane, even though footage shows the truck had the right of way. RCMP Superintendent Rob Lasson stressed that no one has been blamed yet, as the probe is ongoing.
