Elderly Gentleman: A Hearing Problem

An elderly man had serious hearing problems for years. He saw a doctor who fitted him with hearing aids, and his hearing became perfect. A month later, the doctor said his family must be glad he could hear again. But the old man said, “I haven’t told my family yet. I just listen to their conversations. I’ve changed my will five times!”

One afternoon, a young and keen golfer had a few spare hours. He thought he could play 9 holes quickly before going home. Just as he was about to start, an old man came and asked to join him as he was golfing alone. The young man couldn’t refuse. To his surprise, the old man played fast. He didn’t hit far but kept going steadily. When they reached the 9th fairway, the young man faced a tough shot. There was a big pine tree between his ball and the green. After thinking for a while, the old man said, “When I was your age, I’d hit the ball over that tree.” Challenged, the young man swung hard. The ball hit the tree trunk and landed near its original spot. The old man then said, “Of course, when I was your age, that pine tree was only 3 feet tall.”
