Jessica McLaughlin, just 24 years old, died after a violent encounter with her manager left her brain-dead. Her heartbreaking story has triggered national outrage and raised urgent concerns about workplace safety and accountability.

Routine Shift Turns Into a Fatal Confrontation

On June 24, 2025, Jessica clocked in for her shift at the 7-Eleven on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. During her shift, a dispute with her manager escalated rapidly. Her brother, Sean McLaughlin, later revealed that the manager restrained Jessica by sitting on her and pulling her hair, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Coworkers tried to intervene, but the manager reportedly attacked them too. Before fleeing the store on a bicycle, the manager attempted to erase security footage, according to Sean. Jessica collapsed shortly afterward. Her coworkers immediately performed CPR while awaiting emergency responders, but she had already been without oxygen for more than ten minutes.

Paramedics transported the 7-Eleven Employee to the hospital, where doctors placed her on life support. Despite all efforts, her condition didn’t improve. A few days later, doctors confirmed that her brain had suffered irreversible damage.
