Two bodies were found in a rural area of the municipality of San Alberto, Cesar. Authorities confirmed that the victims were a father and his minor son, who were found dead on the side of a dusty road, next to a motionless motorcycle, with no clear signs of what had happened.
The victims were identified as Leonel Manrique Zambrano, 46, and his 12-year-old son. Neighbors recognized them as farm workers and peaceful individuals. The community was the first to discover the harrowing scene early Monday morning, and they were quick to notify authorities.
Upon arriving at the scene, investigators confirmed that both men suffered severe head injuries and multiple lacerations. Although a traffic accident was initially suspected, the first hypothesis gaining traction is a disturbing one: the presence of barbed wire across the road could have caused the tragedy.
Manrique’s motorcycle was found just a few meters from the bodies, with no sign of other vehicles or direct witnesses. The incident has left the community in a state of dismay, as there were no known threats or conflicts that could explain such a fatal outcome.
The bodies were taken to the municipal capital and later referred to the Forensic Medicine Department to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Mayor Edgar Ricardo Díaz expressed his concern: “This appears to be an accident, but the use of a wire fence on the road could involve third-party involvement. The death of a minor is unacceptable, and we demand immediate clarification,” he stated.
The situation takes on a darker tone when one remembers that this area is under the influence of the “Gulf Clan,” which heightens suspicion and tension among the residents.
While judicial authorities advance their investigations, the Miraflores community is experiencing days of fear and uncertainty, fearing that a premeditated act lies behind this alleged “accident.”
