I TOOK MY NEW BOYFRIEND TO OUR FAMILY DINNER — MY DAD IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE COPS WHEN HE SAW HIM

I’d been eagerly anticipating this day for months. Kevin finally managed to take a day off work to meet my parents. We’d been dating for three solid months, yet he always claimed to be swamped with his job as a mechanic. Little did I know, that was all a fabrication.

The moment we arrived at my parents’ house, my dad’s expression underwent an instant transformation the second he laid eyes on Kevin. I was completely oblivious to what was about to unfold. My dad, with a calm demeanor, offered to give Kevin a tour, starting from the basement. The instant Kevin stepped foot inside, my dad forcefully slammed the door shut, turned the lock, and promptly dialed the police.

“He’s not who he claims to be,” my dad declared firmly. “He’s a wanted fugitive. His real name is Jason Miller, and he’s been on the lam for the past year.”

I gaped at my dad, utterly stunned. “What on earth are you talking about? That can’t be true!”

But my dad was insistent. He held up his phone, showing me a news article. There, prominently displayed under the headline “Wanted for Multiple Counts of Fraud and Identity Theft,” was a clear photo of Kevin – or rather, Jason.

As I stared at the picture, my knees grew weak. There was no mistaking it; it was him. My dad continued, his voice filled with conviction. “I recognized him the moment he walked through the door. He conned one of my coworkers out of thousands of dollars last year. We’ve been keeping a close eye out for him ever since.”

I could scarcely believe it. The man I’d been dating for months, the one I thought was kind – hearted and caring, had been lying through his teeth about everything.
