The case caused enormous commotion in the local community and remains under investigation.
The death of two teenagers under mysterious circumstances is being investigated by the Civil Police of Sete Quedas, a municipality located in the interior of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
Cases involving the disappearance and deaths of young people generate great social commotion and highlight the importance of increased attention on the part of authorities and local communities. In areas close to rivers and streams, tragedies such as drownings tend to be recurrent, especially during periods of heavy rain.
The bodies of Ian Roberto Júnior Batista dos Santos, 15, and Mara Beatriz Siqueira da Silva, 13, were found in an advanced stage of decomposition, in an area close to the Lagoa do Sapo Stream.
The two had been missing since March 26. The teenager’s body was found first, last Tuesday (1st), while the boy’s was found the following day by a resident who was inspecting the rural property.
Initial observations at the scene do not rule out the possibility of drowning, as Ian was found wearing only his underwear and Mara Beatriz was wearing light clothing. The teenagers may have been victims of a current caused by a storm.
