Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A horrific incident in the northern part of the city has sent shockwaves throughout the city: 18-year-old Marcelle Julia Araújo da Silva died , and her remains were found in an altered state, with signs of exposure to animals.
The prime suspect is Zhaohu Qiu , 35, a yakisoba vendor and acquaintance of the young woman, who is a fugitive .
Marcelle disappeared on June 11 after setting out on her bicycle to meet the suspect, with whom she had been in frequent contact for months, as he often delivered food to the young woman’s home.
Civil Police believe Marcelle was lured to Zhaohu Qiu ‘s home in Pavuna, where she allegedly lost her life .
Three days after her disappearance, family members were able to obtain images indicating the young woman’s presence at the suspect’s property.
Upon entering the premises with the help of an employee, they found the young woman’s remains, badly decomposed and with signs of having been exposed to animals. The scene was described as shocking .
Preliminary investigation suggests that Zhaohu Qiu premeditated the act . He is suspected of having let the animals loose with the intention of disturbing the remains, thus hindering identification and solving the case.
Marcelle ‘s cell phone disappeared, and her bicycle was found abandoned in a river.
The Rio Court of Justice has already ordered the temporary imprisonment of Zhaohu Qiu , who is now wanted for an act that caused the loss of a woman’s life in a gender context.
