It started with a storm.
The disciples were alone on a boat in the middle of the night, and the Sea of Galilee was anything but peaceful. Waves crashed. The wind howled. Even the fishermen were nervous—and they lived for this kind of weather.
Then, someone saw a figure walking on water.
No, not swimming. Not floating. Walking.
“It’s a ghost!” someone yelled.
But the figure called back, “Take courage. It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
That voice… They knew it.
It was Jesus.
And then Peter, always the bold one, shouted something even crazier:
“Lord, if it’s really You… tell me to come to You on the water!”
Jesus answered with one word:
“Come.”
So Peter—yes, that Peter—swung a leg over the edge of the boat, tightened his sandal strap, and started walking.
For a moment, he did the impossible.
He walked on water.
But then…
He looked at the waves.
He felt the wind.
And suddenly, his faith slipped faster than his sandals.
Peter started to sink.
His bold moment of walking became a splash of fear and panic. But before the waves swallowed him up, Jesus immediately reached out His hand and caught him.
“You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”
He didn’t let Peter drown in his mistake.
He didn’t scold him for trying.
He caught him.
And He walked back to the boat with him.
Sometimes, we’re like Peter.
We have moments where we step out in faith. We believe. We try.
And then we get distracted by the waves—by life, by fear, by uncertainty.
But even when our faith stumbles, Jesus never hesitates to reach out His hand.
🙏 Today’s Reflection
Have you stepped out in faith recently, only to find yourself sinking in worry or regret?
Remember this: Jesus doesn’t expect perfection—He responds to your reach.
You took the step. You believed. And when you falter, He is still there to catch you.
📖 Verse of the Day
“Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith, why did you doubt?’”
