When washing clothes, don’t just put in detergent

How to Protect Clothes in the Washing Machine and Wash Them Better

Many people find that clothes washed in a washing machine wear out fast or even tear. Washing machines, no matter the type, have stronger force than hand – washing, so clothes are more likely to get damaged. Also, overloading the machine by washing too many clothes at once makes them squeeze and wrap tightly. As the drum rotates, the pulling force can easily tear the clothes. Stuffing clothes haphazardly also causes them to twist and get worn.

There’s an easy fix: put 2 capped plastic bottles in the washing machine. They rotate with the clothes, reducing friction between clothes, preventing tangling and tearing. Plus, during spinning, they act like a stick, knocking and rubbing the clothes for better cleaning.

Here are more tips for washing clothes:

  • Sort Clothes First
Before putting clothes in the machine, check pockets for sharp objects. Sort by material and color. This stops light – colored clothes from getting stained by dark or low – quality dyed ones.
  • Soak Clothes
For hard – to – clean fabrics like cotton or thick clothes, soak them in the machine with detergent for 20 – 30 minutes before starting the wash. This loosens stains for easier removal.
  • Add Rice Vinegar
Put clothes in the drum, add detergent and 200ml of rice vinegar. Let it soak for 20 minutes before washing. Rice vinegar can remove stubborn stains like fruit juice and oil, and also gets rid of bad odors on fabrics.
