Great-grandmother, 105, breaks world record for fastest 100-meter run at US Senior Games

This 107-year-old “Hurricane” woman defies age!

In 2021 at 105, Julia Hawkins set a 100-meter world record at Louisiana Senior Games for over 50s.

Now 107, she shows no slowdown.

Sadly, we say goodbye to this great woman.

At 2021 games, she aimed for under a minute in the dash but did it in over 62 seconds. “I could do better. Windy and cold. But it was my best that day,” she said.

Retired teacher Hawkins had old students cheering. “I had students from three schools. They’re 90. Taught them in fourth grade. Shows my age,” she said.

Disappointed not to reach under a minute, she won 105+ 100-meter dash. Family’s glad for gold and record. “I knew it was possible. Few old people do this. I beat non-athletes,” she said.
