Carol shared Luna’s story on Instagram. As it got global attention, a Russian doctor, oncologist Dr. Pavel Borisovich Popov, offered a treatment not in the U.S.
The treatment, photodynamic therapy, was costly. The family fundraised and got $70,000.
“People think I’m crazy to go to Russia, but it’s the best for Luna,” Carol said in 2019.
