Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter dead at 100

(Gray News) – Former President Jimmy Carter, who transformed the post-presidency role, passed away on Sunday at 100.

The Carter Center announced the death of the 39th president.
“Our founder, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, died this afternoon in Plains, Georgia,” the center said.

He passed away peacefully, with his family by his side. The cause of death hasn’t been revealed.

Carter entered hospice care in February 2023 after short hospital stays.

He was in the White House from 1977 to 1981, a Georgia state senator from 1963 to 1967, and governor from 1971 to 1975.
