Sandra Horley, former CEO of the domestic abuse charity Refuge, said the campaign could be risky for some.
“We’re concerned the Black Dot campaign got so much attention that it might be dangerous for certain women to take part,” Ms. Horley said.
“Marking themselves with a black dot could inadvertently tip off their abusive partner that they’re seeking help.”
Even though the Facebook page is long gone, the concept still lingers online. Some women might still be using the black dot on their palms to find a helping hand.
